The 25th Annual Bob Novack Music Awards were presented to two amazing student musicians on June 8, 2022.
The Awards are sponsored and presented by non-profit 1308 Productions. “These awards create so much inspiration amongst the students all year long,” said Ruth K. Broad K-8 music lead educator Onil Rodriguez. “All of our students are aware of 1308 Productions’ great support of our program,” he said. “They positively boost our students in so many ways.”
1308 Productions was created by Jason Novack and Allison Novack to support music education, music scholarship awards, and live performances. Both Jason and Allison are graduates of the school. “We are so grateful to the Novack family for their long-term commitment to supporting our music program,” said Rodriguez.
The 2022 award winners are Isabella S. Sanchez and Sydney L. Parker. Each drew enthusiastic applause from the packed house at the auditorium of Miami Beach Senior High School where Ruth K. Broad K-8 held their graduation and awards ceremony. Both Isabella and Sydney were presented with a trophy, documentation on their award, and a scholarship check for $200 to help further their interest in music.
“Isabella has an incredible love for music,” said Rodriguez. “She has been our school’s top violinist for the past three years and is hard working, quick learning, and well disciplined.” “In addition to being an outstanding musician, Isabella is helpful and dependable and has mentored other students in the school’s String Orchestra.”
“Sydney plays trumpet in the Bobcat School Band,” explained Rodriguez. “She is an excellent trumpet player and is always willing to help other student musicians.” “Sydney is a hard worker who loves music and is disciplined, devoted, and a real asset to our program.”
“We are very proud of these students, their talent, and their achievements,” said Allison Novack, co-founder of 1308 Productions. “They have excelled in music education and are a credit to their teachers and an asset to their peers,” said Ms. Novack. “They will share music with others for many years to come.”
For 25 years now, the Bob Novack Music Awards are presented in memory of the late Bob Novack, a life-long musician, band leader and music educator. Mr. Novack performed with famous big bands throughout the United States including the Glenn Miller Band, and he led the Bob Novack Orchestras in South Florida for four decades. His legacy includes bringing smiles and joy to others through his music, and the student winners each year are carrying on that tradition.
Congratulations to Isabella Sanchez, Sydney Parker, and their awesome teacher, Onil Rodriguez.
