1308 Helps Produce A Summer of Fun for “Mini Canes”

1308 Productions is proud to support the “Mini Canes Recreational Sports Camp” at the University of Miami. The camp was again a tremendous success in the summer of 2012. Repeatedly recognized as one of the best summer camps in South Florida, the Mini Canes program, with the help of 1308 scholarships, enabled underprivileged children to engage in programs of sports, health and wellness, personal safety, cooking, and public service projects including an event to benefit the United Way of Miami-Dade County. Congratulations to the outstanding leadership and staff of the Mini Canes Camp and especially to all of the great kids who have developed essential life long skills from their Cane experience.

1308 Productions has announced the 2012 winners of the Bob Novack Music Awards.

Kebra Charles has won the Bob Novack Music Scholarship at Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Center. “Kebra is a well-rounded, passionate musician who participates in Orchestra, the South Florida Youth Symphony, and further serves his community by assisting beginning music students with their playing,” said Nicolas Repetto, RKBBH Music Educator. “His sense of professionalism and musicianship has garnered the budding young bassist top-notch experience by performing with professional musicians in several venues within Miami-Dade County.” Mr. Repetto envisions Kebra having a bright future as a professional bassist.

Brandon Ridley, graduating from Nautilus Middle School, has also been selected as a winner of the established honor popularly known as “The Bob Novack Music Awards”. Brandon plays drums on the school’s Jazz Band and Concert Band and has been a mainstay of the program for the last two years. Nautilus Music Director Ray Modia says that “Brandon has demonstrated excellence in his talent, attitude and achievements, and has been a great credit to the school and community”.

Each year the Bob Novack Music Award is presented at both Nautilus Middle School and Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 School to outstanding music students chosen by the schools’ music departments. The award is given in memory of the late Bob Novack, a life-long musician, band leader and music educator. Mr. Novack performed with famous bands throughout the United States including the Glenn Miller Band, and he led the Bob Novack Orchestras in South Florida for four decades. He inspired 1308 Productions and efforts to support music education and the youth music scene

The awards are presented by his son, Paul Novack, former Mayor of Surfside. A list of the winners is posted on line at 1308′s web site. Music and social activism fit together…perfectly. Apparently, Allison Novack, producer at 1308 Productions, agrees. Two years ago, Allison was named to Teen Voices’ and J-Vibe’s 18 Under 18 lists, and today, at 20, she continues to make a lot of noise for causes through her work.

Ludacris was the featured performed for UM Homecoming Events. Allison and a team from Hurricane Productions presented a tremendously successful packed house show at the Bank United Center on the UM Campus in Coral Gables, Florida.

In August 2010 Ludacris went back into the studio with The Neptunes, starting work on his eighth studio album: Ludaversal, sequel to the album Theater of the Mind. In July 2011 Ludacris went to Paris to work with David Guetta, Nelly, Kanye West, Ne-Yo and Young Jeezy, all of whom will be in Ludaversal which is scheduled to be released in early 2012.

Hurricane Productions presents a huge variety of shows and events on the UM campus. The Ludacris / Hurricane Productions / Bank United Center / University of Miami show was another huge boost towards the major launch of Ludaversal.

2011 winners of the “Robert H. Novack Memorial Music Awards”

The 2011 winners of the “Robert H. Novack Memorial Music Awards” are Shannon Komisarchik of Nautilus Middle School and Srivishnu Ramankutty of Ruth K. Broad K-8 School.

Shannon Komisarchik , graduating from Nautilus Middle School on Miami Beach, has been selected as a winner of the established honor, popularly known as “The Bob Novack Music Awards”. Shannon is a classical pianist who has also trained and performed in Jazz and been a member of the Nautilus Jazz Band under the direction of Ray Modia. Shannon has achieved excellence in music performance, and has presented numerous recitals and concerts for her school and community. Her excellence has earned widespread acclaim.

Srivishnu Ramankutty, graduating from Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 and preparing to enter the New World School of the Arts, is an outstanding musician focusing on the viola and violin. He has been the Concertmaster of the school orchestra, has attended All State Orchestra as one of Florida’s finest young musicians, and he performs in the South Florida Youth Symphony. Music educator Nicolas Repetto at the school has been enormously impressed with Srivishnu and his continuously rising talent.

Allison Novack receives the District's Outstanding Student Volunteer Award from Superintendent of Schools Alberto Carvalho

Allison Novack has been named as the Outstanding Youth Volunteer of the Year for the entire Miami-Dade County Public School System. At a gathering of over 1,200 people at Jungle Island on April 15, 2010, the award was announced after a panel of judges had been reviewing nominations for the past several weeks.

Allison’s volunteer work in many capacities, including as President of the Junior State of America (MB Chapter), as Producer for the non-profit 1308 Productions organization, as organizer of youth voter registration projects, as host to a Congressional visit to Beach High, as an integral part of Sky News’ global coverage of US elections, as creator of Rock the Vote concerts and shows, and as an energetic student leader on the local, national and international level, all created positive results for her school and community.

The Miami-Dade County Public School District thanked Allison for her devotion to public service. On hand were Superintendent of Schools Alberto Carvalho, School Board Vice Chair Perla Tabares Hantman, and School Board Members Dr. Lawrence Feldman, Dr. Wilbert Holloway, and Augustin Barrera. Also in attendance were corporate and business leaders, civic organizations, educators and public administrators.

Allison’s efforts have been spotlighted by Voice of America Radio, global television network Sky News, the United States Congress, Teen Voices “18 under 18″, and many other media and civic recognitions.

1308 Productions has long been a positive vehicle for enhancing the music scene, youth public service, and music education in South Florida. Founded by Jason Novack in 2003 and continued by Allison Novack since 2007, the organization has successfully presented many concerts, shows and events and achieved numerous public service objectives on the local, national and international level.

1308 has presented and supported events for educational and charitable causes in Miami Beach, Miami, St. Louis, and soon to come: in New York City.

In its latest growth and expansion, 1308 Productions has initiated programs and projects in the Tri-State area of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Supporting live music events and community service activities, 1308 is partnering with other non-profit entities to benefit young, aspiring musicians and to expand opportunities for talented youth throughout the region.
